Saskatchewan, Canada has an area of 588,276 sq km and a population of about 968,000. Its capital is Regina.
Saskatchewan is bounded by the Canadian provinces of Alberta, Northwest Territories, and Manitoba, and by the American states of Montana and North Dakota. It has diverse topography in form of the Canadian Shield (rocky region), the Interior Plains, the Cypress Hills, boreal forests and sand dunes.
Saskatchewan was populated by indigenous tribes such as the Assiniboine, Cree and Sioux. The first Europeans were the British who came as traders and set up the Hudson’s Bay fur-trading company. This region is now a mix of various ethnic groups.
