Try hiking the Chilkoot Trail, which was at one time tread by the Gold Rush prospectors, and panning for gold. For a unique experience, go to Dawson City, heart of the Gold Rush and try gambling at Diamond Tooth Gerties or attend a cabaret show at Palace Grand Theatre. The MacBride Museum in Whitehorse has a large collection of relics from the Gold Rush days.

The George Johnston Museum in Teslin illustrates the way of life and culture of the Natives. The Kluane Museum of Natural History offers displays on the flora, fauna and the natural resources of this region. Those interested in art could visit the Yukon Gallery in Whitehorse, which exhibits works of Canadian artists.

Much of Yukon’s spectacular wilderness has been preserved in the National Parks such as Vuntut and Ivvavik. Kluane National Park is the most impressive encompassing ice fields and Canada’s highest peak, Mount Logan. The adventurous could try white-water rafting, canoeing and kayaking on the Rivers Tatshenshini and Yukon. Drive along the Alaskan Highway for a breathtaking view of the snow-capped St Elias Mountains. For a unique experience, visit the Reindeer farm near Lake Laberge. The Takhini Hot Springs are well worth a visit as well.
