Tourist Guide Haines Junction
The Haines Highway is a very long stretch of road with many important halts alongside it. One of the most well known settlements of people is the Haines Junction. It was originally named ‘Dakwakada’ which meant ‘High Cache’. This place is completely filled with people of the Tutchone origin. This place is near to the Chilkat Pass, which is very beneficial where trade matters are considered. This place comes in between the coastal Tlingat people and the Tutchone people. The current town was developed when the Alaska Highway came up there. Haines Junction serves as the link between the Alaska Highway and the Haines area. It is often used as a construction site along with the home for engineers who maintain the Highway. The area measures about 30.65 sq. kilometres and is represented by 881 people as shown by the Yukon Tour Guide.
