Watson Lake is a town situated on the Alaska Highway in the state of Yukon. The town lies at the intersection of the Alaska Highway and the Robert Campbell Highway near the Liard River. The town covers a total area of 10.9 km² and has a population of 1,547 as per the 2004 census. The town has a subarctic climate with an average rainfall of 10 inches and snowfall of 77.6 inches each year. May is the warmest month with temperatures as high as 34ºC and January the coldest month with a temperature of -59ºC at times. The region has a large number of trees resulting in a more feasible forest industry. Several outdoor activities can be enjoyed here by tourists such as snowmobiling, ice skating, ice fishing and downhill skiing in the winters and horseback riding, canoeing, fishing, swimming, golf and camping in the summer.
