When to visit

Yukon is a unique adventurous place having long warm summers and cold clear winters.  Summers are usually the time when the place sees maximum crowds, with RV and cruise traffic.  The high season here is from May to September, whereas the winter high season is from January to February.

Most of the time visitors visit Yukon in the summer season (late May to September) for hiking and paddling or in winter (December and April), to enjoy dog sledding and cross country skiing sports activities and the northern lights (October to April).

Late spring and early fall is also a favorable time to visit Yukon to see the wildlife, to avoid extreme temperature or also to avoid the bugs.  Many visit this place to attend festivals like Yukon Quest International Sled Dog Race in February, the Longest Day Celebration in June or the Discovery Day Festival in August. The most popular months are the months of June and July, when the visitors come for longer days and special events.
