This region is most frequented for its natural beauty. Bahia de los Angeles, a serene fishing village, offers sports enthusiasts snorkelling, diving and kayaking opportunities through hidden coves and natural harbours. Around Bahia de los Angeles, you can observe dolphins and whales in their natural habitat. In the town of Ensenada, the Punta Banda Peninsula offers visitors lovely beaches, recreational facilities and a chance to look at seals and sea lions. Head to La Rumorosa, rock formations from where a panoramic view of the desert region in Baja California can be enjoyed. Next to it is the Guadalupe Canyon, where the adventurous can try hiking and discover the hot water springs and waterfalls.
The main attraction in Mexicali is the Museo Regional de la Universidad Autónoma de Baja California, a regional museum with archaeological and historical items on display. The Art Morisco Palace in Tijuana is an important piece of architecture. El Vallecito, an archaeological site with primitive cave paintings and art must be visited.
