Coahuila is bounded by the Mexican states of Nuevo León, San Luis Potosí, Zacatecas, Durango and Chihuahua and by Texas, USA. The topography mainly consists of plateaus and mountainous regions.
This region was initially inhabited by nomadic Indian tribes, after which it fell to the Spanish.
