As Morelos is well renowned for its churches, you could follow the Convents Route in the state and visit the towns of Oaxtepec, Tlayacapan, Yecapixtla, Tepoztlan and Atlatlahuacan. Of these, the sixteenth-century Augustinian Convent in Tepoztlan, the Church of San Juan Bautista constructed in the Gothic style in Tlayacapan and the Ex-Convent of San Mateo in Atlatlahuacan are noteworthy.

The interesting archaeological site of Xochicalco displays ruins not only from the Teotihuacán tribe but also the Toltecs and the Mayans. The Cuauhnáhuac Regional History Museum housed in the Cortes Palace features historical exhibits, especially from the Mexican Revolution.

The city of Cuautla is well known for its thermal springs, especially Agua Hedionda and El Almeal. The Tequesquitengo Lake offers tourists opportunities for aquatic sports. The Amanalco Ravines are also worth visiting. For a flavour of the indigenous culture, visit the feast in Tepoztlan with regional dances and songs to honour a local God, Tepoztecatl. The fair of Cuernavaca is extremely popular with local handicrafts on display. For a unique experience, take a tour of the old sugar factories in Yautepec.
