Tourists will be delighted with the beaches at Ensenada. Try surfing at the Tres Emes beach or the immensely popular Todos Santos Island, which is about 2 hours west by boat. The island also hosts the Billabong XXL surfing contest.
A trip to the city in late November will treat you to a glimpse of the renowned Baja 1000 off-road race. If you want to see the beautiful grey whales on their annual migration, avail of a sightseeing tour between the months of December and March.
Visit the Santa Ines Valley with its 40-metre-tall rocks that resemble human figures and La Bufadora, which is an amazing 15-metre-high sea geyser.
Local sightseeing includes the historic Bodega Santo Tomas winery (with its much-frequented tasting room), Ventana al Mar boardwalk (housing a huge Mexican flag), San Franciso de Borja Mission (the first chapel of its kind in the state) and La Primera Street (a haven for trinkets and souvenirs).
