In the Mexican State of Chiapas, close to the Usumacinta River lies the Maya archaeological site called as Palenque. The altitude of this place is 150 meters above sea level. It is separated from Ciudad del Carmen by 130 kilometers. This place has some of the finest bas-relief carvings, roof comb , sculpture and architecture that Maya has produced. Palenque overlooks the lower coastal plain which stretches to the Gulf of Mexico approximately 80 miles towards its North. The ruins at this place are nicely preserved by the anthropologists and the local people.
It is extremely hot and humid in Palenque. The average temperature is 79 degrees Fahrenheit across the year and the average precipitation per year is 85 inches.There is a jungle weather. It is advisable to use light clothes and avoid synthetics so that the skin can breathe. Also, a lot of water should be carried and the body should be kept well hydrated. A hat, insect repellent and sun screen should be carried along.
