Chihuahua, Mexico has an area of 244,938 sq km and a population of 3,241,400. Its capital is Chihuahua City. Chihuahua is bounded by the Mexican states of Coahuila, Durango, Sinaloa and Sonora and Arizona, New Mexico and Texas in the USA. The topography is dominated by the North Central plateau and the Sierra Madre mountainous region. Initially inhabited by the Nahua and Apache people, Chihuahua later fell to the Spanish. The population here is mainly Mestizo (mixed indigenous and foreign ancestry).
