Saltillo: Attractions and more...
The Saltillo Cathedral, a Baroque construction, is one of the most important attractions in this city. Another beautiful structure is the San Juan Nepomuceno Temple, a Neo-classical Jesuit building with evangelical scriptures and murals. Inside the Government Palace is the Venustiano Caranza Museum, charting the lives of famous Mexican figures. The Saltillo Technological Institute, a work of Classical architecture, is where most Saltillan thinkers came from.
For those interested in art, visit the Ateneo Fuente, an Art Deco building over 137 years old housing Mexican art. Most local artists display their work at Teatro Garcia Carrillo Cultural Centre.
Two important museums are the Museo de las Aves México (Bird Museum), exhibiting about seventy percent of the bird population of Mexico, and the Museo del Desierto (Desert Museum), displaying flora and fauna of the desert environment.
Head to Juarez Market to purchase local artwork.
