A well-frequented tourist site is the Cathedral of Colima, constructed in the Neo-classical style. The Government Palace, constructed in the nineteenth century is a prime example of colonial architecture. The Churches of San Felipe de Jesusis, El Sagrado Corazón and San José are also worth visiting.
The Museum of Arts and Popular Culture has a collection of regional costumes and musical instruments from all over Mexico. Another museum, the Museo de las Culturas de Occidente (Museum of Western Cultures) displays archaeological findings and pre-Hispanic items.
For some relaxation, you could go to the Metropolitan Regional Park with recreational facilities. If you are interested in arts, visit Hidalgo theatre, the city’s main cultural centre.
Nearby is the town of Comalá, a centre of the local arts and crafts industry. You could also go to the Spa El Herridero, the thermal springs.
