Acapulco de Juàrez is famous for one thing above all others, its vast and beautiful beaches. In fact time spent soaking up the rays and relaxing in this famed Mexican getaway needs not cost the earth. If you are independent and only infrequently head to the blazing bar and club scene, then Acapulco on a budget is a very real and radiant possibility.
The foremost daytime attraction has to be the cliff divers, the practice of leaping from on high was once a way for local young men to pass the time whilst perhaps impressing the local girls, now it is strictly professional and the risks are great indeed. For a very reasonable fee you can view the show from a public area or from the Hotel Plaza Las Glorias.
The outdoor market is well worth a browse for eccentricities. Time must be spent though in walking the gorgeous cliffs and laying on these hot beaches.
