Ixtapa has a semi-tropical climate and the sun shines almost all the year round. Rainfall starts in June and extends till September. During this period, Ixtapa is covered in green foliage with flowers and trees blossoming all over.
Ixtapa was built to complement Zihuatanejo as a world-class resort for tourists who preferred a quiet environment. The first hotel ‘Aristos’ was built in 1971 initiating tourist traffic.
