Zoologico Guadalajara is a modern zoo which opened in 1988 in Guadalajara, and covers an area of thirty-four hectares of reforested land.

In addition, it is an important ecological centre, which helps with the preservation and reproduction of several endangered species.

The entrance of the zoo has famous sculptures of monkeys, made by the renowned world artist Sergio Bustamante.

Several animals from Mexico such as coyotes, bears, deer, insects, birds and snakes live here along with two thousand other species such as the Iranian wolves, hippopotamuses, monkeys, ostriches, llamas and more.

There are many attractions in the park. The Herpetarium is the largest reptile house in Latin America and includes all kinds of arachnids, tortoises, fish, snakes and lizards.

Aviaries of several birds including the Golden eagle are represented here.

The Nocturnario is a place that houses nocturnal animals like raccoons, owls and more.

The Selva Tropical shows animals from the tropical rainforest region and the Safari Masai Mara displays animals from the African savannah.
