Manzanillo, nicknamed Emerald of the Pacific, is the second largest city and municipality seat in the state of Colima, western Mexico. It is located on the shores of the Pacific Ocean and lies nearly 100 km west of the state capital Colima City.
The city has the title of being the ‘Sailfish Capital of the World’ because of its excellent fishing. The Manzanillo and Colima Airports cater to the air needs of the city.
Manzanillo has an average temperature of around 26°C. Summers are hot and humid while winters tend to be mild and pleasant. Cool air currents from the Manzanillo and Santiago Bays provide a refreshing breeze to the area. The monsoon usually extends from June to November.
The city has a population of more than 100,000 people and is one of Mexico’s busiest ports and industrial centres.
