Mexico City is located at high altitude, hence it gets very cold at night. Carrying warm clothes such as sweaters and jackets along with casual shorts, sneakers and trousers would help.
If you are asthmatic do carry your medication as the air pollution in Mexico city can worsen the situation.
Do not expect to shop around here and get good bargains as most of the clothes are imported and can be quite expensive.
Carry some formal clothes for wearing at night to the dance club or the lounge.
In the day it can be hot so do not forget to carry sunscreen, sunglasses and hat. Insect repellent can be useful as well.
Carry cash rather than travellers cheques and credit cards. These may not be accepted everywhere.
Carry a camera as it will be handy for snaps. Umbrellas can be useful during the rainy season.
