The Mercado de Jamaica is the major flower market in Mexico City. This is where basically all of the flower stalls, flower sellers, hoteliers and locals-in-the-know come to get their fresh flowers. It really is worth a visit. Some of the sellers go all out in fact in presenting their wares ready-arranged to prospective buyers, so far as to build flower animals with them!
But this isn’t all that can be found here. The market also contains the whole array of goods and wares which you would expect from any quality market. The prices are good for other products as well as they aren’t aimed at the dollar wielding tourist but at the savvy local type.
Most of the aisles are quite spacious which is helpful in making it both easy to gawk & take photos from afar, and less stressful for us disoriented gringos sampling the streets for the first time as you are less likely to be run down by locals with small grocery carts or men carrying sides of beef!
