When you think of Mexico city the images it cunjours tend to be large buildings, big roads but crowded and everything laying heavy with dust until the wind blows, chokes you, before leaving the dust to resettle heavy once again. Ok, so this is an overstated and romanticised image!

The surprising fact is that Mexico city contains not only an assortment of great - and often well-maintained - large and grand parks, but also an array of little ones. Sweet pockets of green amongst our hellish imagined dust bowl.

Many neighborhoods like La Roma and La Condesa where they are to be found are within walking distance of the central tourist thoroughfares and there is a surprisingly clean and accessible Metro network that reaches much of the city beyond.  La Condesa is a beautiful area with many small public gardens to be discovered but bohemian Roma is also filled with unique cafés, art galleries, and small parks.

Parque Mexico is obviosly well known but it also has a little counterpart in the leafy Parque España which has its own special charm, dotted with fountains and benches, and surrounded by cute cafés.  Explore and find your on secret garden!
