The prehistoric city of Teotihuacán is located about 40 km north of Mexico City, the capital of Mexico. It is an archaeological wonder which was given the status of a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987. No trip to Mexico is complete without a trip to this historic city, which houses some of the most important ruins in the world.
Teotihuacán means the City of Gods, a name given to the city because of the belief that it used to be the meeting point of deities. It is also an ancient Aztec pilgrimage site.
The weather is pleasant, albeit sunny. Afternoon showers are an almost a daily occurrence. Essential carry-ons include sun block and drinking water because of the walking and climbing required during the tour.
More than 40,000 people inhabit this region of Mexico.
