Teotihuacán: Attractions and more...

Teotihuacán is home to the Pyramid of the Sun, the third largest pyramid in the world. This impressive monument, located in the heart of the city, lies at the foot of the colossal Cerro Gordo Mountain. The Pyramid of the Moon is another important pyramid whose front plaza is surrounded by temples.

Facing the pyramid is the broad central street which is known as the Avenue of the Dead, or Calle de Los Muertos. Both sides of the avenue are flanked by ceremonial temples and palaces. At the southern end, one can find the immense sunken square called the Citadel, housing the ruins of the Temple of the Feathered Serpent and the Temple of Quetzalcoatl.

The Palace of Jaguars (with beautiful murals and frescoes showing jaguars) and the Palace of the Butterfly called Quetzal-Mariposa (a mystical bird-butterfly) with its paintings are also near the Avenue.

Aztec flutes and obsidian rocks will make excellent souvenirs of your trip.
