Reviews Toluca de Lerdo
Toluca de Lerdo, or simply Toluca, is the capital of the state of Mexico in Central Mexico. The name ‘Toluca’ comes from the Nahuatl (indigenous language) word ‘Tollohcan’, which means ‘Place of the God Tolloh’. The city was originally called ‘Toluca de Lerdo’, in memory of Sebastián Lerdo de Tejada, a Mexican politician. For everyday use, it has been abbreviated to Toluca.
The climate is cool and humid all-year-round. The annual average temperature is 14°C, with rainfall between the months of June and September. Summer is the best time to visit.
Toluca, once a Spanish colony, also had several Native American tribes settled here, giving this city a multicultural atmosphere.
Located in close proximity to Mexico City, the population of 748,000 is mainly employed in industrial and commercial activities.
