Tepoztlan: Attractions and more...
Begin your sightseeing with a visit to the Tepozteco Pyramid, which is located high on the cliffs above the town. Although the physical condition of the tourist affects the climb, the view from the Pyramid’s terraces and stone benches is spectacular.
The sixteenth-century Dominican Church is located downtown. Near it is the equally old Convent of the Nativity, with its huge arches and a beautiful view of the hills beyond. Not too far away is the ‘Mexico for Peace’ museum, locally called the Carlos Pellicer Collection Archaeological Museum, which exhibits various Mexican cultures and traditional figurines.
Tepoztlan has some exotic ice cream flavours which are a must try. The town market with its range of arts, crafts and food is an excellent place to avail of tasty Mexican specialities like Tlacoyos (corn pockets with beans), Cecina de Yecapixtla (salted meats), and Red Mole with turkey or Green Mole with grounded pumpkin seeds.
