El Cerro de la Silla (the Hill of the Saddle) looks like a horse-saddle and is a landmark in Nuevo León. The Cañon de la Huasteca is ravine surrounded by bizarre looking rock formations. You could go fishing at the Agualeguas Dam or head to the nearby springs of Paseos de Nogalar. The Labraderes Lagoon is a popular tourist spot. The Ojo de Agua Natural Park is frequented for its thermal spas and thick vegetation. For a unique experience, visit the caves of Grutas de García. An interesting museum is the Glass Museum in Monterrey, depicting the history of glass. The Museum of Contemporary Art houses a collection of modern art and the Regional Museum features ethnological and historical material on Nuevo León. Basilica de Nuestra Señora del Roble and La Purisima Church are important ecclesiastical buildings in Monterrey. The Misericordia Temple in Linares, an eighteenth-century construction, must not be missed. Close to Monterrey is the Centro Cultural Alfa, exhibiting local Mexican art. The La Villa Seca Fair is a form of regional festivities with dance and music. For a religious festival, attend the Virgen de San Juan de los Lagos Festival in Santa Catarina in August.
