Cholula is characterised by its pre-Hispanic monuments such as the Temple Pyramid, the Franciscan-style San Gabriel Monastery and the Royal Chapel with 49 domes. The archaeological zone of Yohualichan is famous for its Totonac ruins. For a unique experience, visit the Piedras Encimadas Valley with more than 50 natural sculptures. The Valsequillo Lake is ideal for aquatic sports and fishing. The thermal springs of Jicolapa are popular amongst tourists. The Atlixcáyoti Festival in September is a celebration by the local Indians. The town of Huejotzingo is famed for its handicrafts and apple cider, while Acatlán de Osorio is renowned for its ceramics.
