Located on the East Coast of the Yucatan peninsula, 68 km south of Cancun, Playa del Carmen is one of the most attractive destinations of the Mexican Caribbean.
Its permanent population is about 49,000 residents. Once a little fishing village and a backpacker’s undiscovered paradise, Playa is now a popular resort for package tourism and a place to where many Europeans, Americans, Canadians often relocate to start their own tourist businesses.
The fine white-sand beaches, the blue sea of the Caribbean and the subtropical climate with sunny days and an average year-round temperature of 25° are the main reasons this spot is an internationally popular vacation destination.
In Playa del Carmen, there is a huge choice of restaurants and bars, serving generally good-quality hot and spicy Mexican cuisine, but also Asian, Italian and sometimes vegetarian food.
