The Capilla Aránzazu is a Churrigueresque-style masterpiece. A unique museum is the Museo Nacional de la Mascara with collection of masks from all over Mexico. The Regional Museum houses archaeological and ethnological exhibits. The Culture House holds exhibitions of regional art and handicrafts. The Neoclassic-style Government Palace has important murals inside depicting Mexican history.
The Laguna Media Luna is ideal for diving and snorkelling. The El Original Hill offers tourists hiking and mountaineering opportunities. The town of Tamasopo enclosed between mountains is ideal for eco-tourists with its waterfalls and thick vegetation. You could take a guided tour of the mines around the town of Real de Catorce.
For a unique experience, visit the factories of Santa Maria del Rio where you can see how local handicrafts are made. The Hidalgo Market in San Luis Potosí City has regional crafts on sale such as sarapes (blankets), cane-work and ceramics. The National Potosin Fair is an annual event with exhibitions and regional dance and music.
