An important tourist spot is the Government Palace with many interesting murals. The Cathedral of La Asuncion is well worth visiting. Hermosillo also has two picturesque chapels, Del Carmen and Espiritu Santo.
For the eco-friendly tourists, there is the Centro Ecológico de Sonora, which houses over 250 animals and 300 plants, and the Madero Park, for recreation.
One of the two main museums in Hermosillo is the Museo Regional de Historia de Sonora, which contains ethnological exhibits. The Museo de Sonora was originally a penitentiary facility in Hermosillo, before it was converted into a historical museum.
Head to La Campana Hill (the Bell Hill), for a panoramic view of the city. Don’t miss the Vendimia Feast, held in June with parades and different types of food. You could also visit the beautiful bay, Bahía Kino, with the fishing village of Viejo Kino and the Nuevo Kino resort, which offers water sports.
