Excellent accesibility from Monterrey taking the pay highway.Don't miss to visit the Birds Museum and the Desert Museum also the Museo del Sarape. There are excellent restaurants. Lots of small shopping areas with parkingNew developments toward the Monterrey the highway. Also there is a wonderful place, Monteregio, where log cabins are built and and snow skiing training course where advanced skiers teach children and grown up. In winter it is covered with snow and in summer the golf course is a very atractive resort. There are homes through out the course, some are for rent through the Resort Management and also the log cabins by the Ski Scholl. Also very nice to stroll through the main avenue where lots of mansions are, many refurbished and changed into important banks branches

I find that vacationing here is not the same as living here. When I travel on extended vacations, I prefer to live in a place just like the local people, renting an apartment, not a vacation home. I found the local Mayan population in Playa not to be very friendly to foreigners. The typical one to two week vacation in an overpriced resort like hotel near the beach is not the same experience as living here in a typical apartment that rents for roughly $200/month. Of course if your like most visitors, you'll probably stick to friends that are also visiting. I prefer to live amongst the people to experience something new and to learn about their culture, this was not possible in PDC. Belize or Costa Rica would be a better choice, I didn't have any of these issues there.
