The Gran Plaza, located at the end of the Prolongacion del Paseo de Montejo, was first opened in 1994 as a collection of stores and shops organized by the Mexican grocery chain Comercial Mexicana on one end and a huge Sears shop on the other end. The Gran Plaza then underwent expansion in 2004/05, doubling its size, and also introduced big names like the international Zara, Nine West and Lacoste among others.
