Tourist Guide Zacatecas City
Zacatecas City is located in the northern region of Mexico. The city is located at 2,500 m above sea level, making it the country’s second highest city. The colonial centre of the city with its elaborate buildings is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Mexico City, the capital of the country, is located around 600 km away and can be reached by the El Zacatecano express. The city is also well connected to the capital as well as to American cities by air.
The city has a dry climate, although showers are in abundance between June and September. The average temperature in this region is around 16°C, although it can get quite cold around November up till January.
The population of Zacatecas is about 123,000 people. Industries here are centred on the silver mines, making it the highest yielding silver economy world wide.
