Tourist Guide Bessemer
Bessemer city is located in Jefferson County in the state of Alabama, USA. The city is spread over an area of 105 sq km with a population of 30,000. A majority of the population are African Americans, accounting for almost seventy percent of the total population.
Bessemer was incorporated as a city in 1889 and earned the nickname ‘The Marvel City’ because of its rapid development. The city has been industrially developed since the nineteenth century, specializing in ore mining and iron smelting. However, with the exhaustion of the supplies of iron ore, the city now focuses on the manufacture of ductile pipes.
The city enjoys a tropical climate with hot and humid summers and mild winters. The average annual temperature is around 27°C. The topography of the region includes lush green forests, lakes, hills, deposits of minerals and so forth.
