Tourist Guide Blountsville

Blountsville can be described as a town located in county of Blount, Alabama, US.

Right from creation of Blount County in the year 1818 till the year 1889, this city served in the form of a county seat. The year 1889 was the year of election and this led to transfer of Blountsville to Oneonta.

The town of Blountsville had been established in the year 1816 by Johnny Jones and Caleb Fryley in the form of ‘Bear Meat Cabin’. Post Office got opened on 20th of October, 1825. ‘Bountsville’ was the name given to it. Early years witnessed establishments of numerous schools. Apart from district Agricultural School, Blount College, and academy, various public schools got opened.

Blount County Court house as well as jail had been constructed in the year 1933. It went on to remain there before getting moved to ‘Oneonta’.

As per census conducted in the year 2000, population of Blountsville was 1768.
