Childersburg can be described as a city located in ‘Shelby’ and ‘Talladega’ counties in Alabama, US. The origin of this place can be traced back to the 16th century. At that time, it was one of the villages belonging to ‘Coosa’ Indian Nation.
As per US Census Bureau, Childersburg’s total area is of 20.5 sq. Km; out of which 20 sq.Km is land and 0.5 sq. Km is water. In the 16th century, persons identified as portion of Kymulga phase culture used to live at site of ‘Childersburg’.
The ‘Alabama Army Ammunition Plant’ had been located at a distance of 4 miles on the northern side of Childersburg. Due to this, Childersburg came to be known as ‘America’s oldest continuously occupied city’. The eighteenth century witnessed domination by Abihka people. At some time, there was ‘munitions plant’ within Childersburg. As per 2000 census, population of Childersburg was 4927. Summer would be the best season to visit Childersburg.
