Demopolis is considered to be the largest city located in Marengo County of Alabama in United States.

Demopolis or the City of People was discovered by Bonapartists who came to this land after the fall of Napoleon Bonaparte. By the year 1817 people settled down in this city giving it shape to the present day Demopolis.

The city is renowned for volunteerism that is evident from various non profits organization offering various cultural and social activities. Apart from this, there are various historical sites that are worth watching and represents the history of this place. Visitors can also amuse themselves with various water sports as the location of Demopolis is on the junction of two rivers namely Tombighee and Black Warrior in the north of Marengo County.

With a rapid commercial growth this place has a population of 7540 according to 2000 census.

The climate of this place is cool and pleasant.
