Located in Etowah County in north-east Alabama, USA, Gadsden has an area of around 96 sq km and is inhabited by around 37,000 people. A major percentage of the population is Caucasian. The first settlement in the area can be traced back to the nineteenth century; it was started by John Riley. The city was incorporated in 1871.
Gadsden enjoys a subtropical climate with humid and hot summers and cool and mild winters. The average maximum temperature in summer is around 32°C, and in winter, the average maximum temperature is approximately 10°C.
The economy of the city is mainly dependent on its tourism industry, with the Noccalula Falls alone attracting 550,000 visitors annually. The topography of the region includes beautiful waterfalls, gorges, lush green vegetation, rivers, mountains and so forth. The city is home picturesque scenic beauty making it a popular tourist destination.
