Gardendale is home to a number of closed and old coal mines; along with lands which had once been stripped and later replanted to cultivate forests. None of the main waterways lie in this place. However, several streams happen to feed in to Black Warrior River’s Locust Fork. This river passes towards northern and western part of city.
