In the United States, in North central Alabama, Hoover is a city in Shelby and Jefferson counties. Hoover is the biggest suburb of Birmingham. The planned communities and neighborhoods of Hoover are situated along the rolling foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. This city is a section of the Birmingham-Hoover Metropolitan Statistical Area. The gross area of this city is 43.65 square miles out of which water is spread over 0.51 square miles and land occupies 43.13 square miles. There are different communities in Hoover named as Southpointe, The Preserve, Trace Crossings, Shades Mountain etc.

As per the 2000 census, the population of Hoover was 62,742.

The yearly average temperature in Hoover ranges from 51.9 to 73.6 degrees Fahrenheit. In the winter, the temperature drops to the low 30s to 50s. During spring, the high temperature is around 65 degrees Fahrenheit. During summer, the temperature is most into the 90s.
