Tourist Guide Oxford
Situated in Calhoun County in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountain Range in Alabama, USA, the city of Oxford covers an area of 47.4 km sq and has a population of around 15,000. Part of the city lies in Talladega County.
Nicknamed as ‘Crossroads to the future’, the city has witnessed tremendous growth in its economy. Originally known as Lickskillet, Oxford was the first city to be incorporated in Calhoun County.
The city has a humid temperate climate. Summers are hot with an average temperature of 27°C, while winters are cold with average temperatures of 6°C. Summers are accompanied by thunderstorms.
The city is famous for the Cider Ridge Golf Course. This scenic location traverses many creeks, a waterfall and an old rock reservoir and is one of the most beautiful championship golf courses in the southeast. The Oxford Lake offers a number of recreational activities.
