Tourist Guide Tuscaloosa

Tuscaloosa is situated on the Black Warrior River in Tuscaloosa County in west central Alabama, USA. It is the fifth-largest city in Alabama with a population of over 83,000.

Nestled among the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, Tuscaloosa covers a total area of 172.8 sq km. It lies on the fall line of the Black Warrior River. The north-eastern region of Tuscaloosa is hilly and forested while the low-lying south-western area is marshy.

Tuscaloosa has a subtropical climate. In winter, temperatures may fall below freezing point. In summer, temperatures range from 12°C to 28°C. Rain is received in abundance while snowfall is rare.

Nicknamed as ‘The Druid City’, Tuscaloosa is best known as the home of the University of Alabama. It also houses cultural sites such as the Westervelt Warner Museum of American Art and the Paul W Bryant Museum.
