The possibilities are endless when it comes to what you’ll see while hiking on the trails or through the parks in and around Anchorage. Pick your choice of 190 parks and you will experience nature at its finest. It’s not uncommon to come across a rare bird, including an occasional eagle soaring by, or a moose wandering the wilderness in Kincaid Park, and black, brown and grizzly bears in search of food while hiking through any of the 400 miles of trails that run through 10,000 acres of land with forested and mountainous terrain. Deali park alone has 30,000 square miles of glaciers. While traveling along Tony Knowles Coastal Trail you may even spot a whale.
Bike, hike or horseback ride your way to fun, fitness and memories beyond compare on these trails including Far North Bicentennial Park (4000 acres), Campbell Tract Facility (730 acres), Kincaid Park (1400 acres), Chester Creek Trail (6 miles), Turnagain Arm Trail (9.4 miles of trails), among others. Waterfalls, steep cliffs, babbling brooks will never cease to amaze as does the view of Mount McKinley.
