When watching your pennies, it definitely won’t be a waste of time to visit the animals at the Alaska Zoo on Tuesday and Friday nights when they stay open during the summer until 9 for their Tuesday night lecture series and Friday night music performances. Admission is only $12 each for adults, $6 each for youth between 3 and 17 years and free for children under 2 years of age. Seniors over 65 and military pay only $9 each. It’s all worth the price when you experience live polar bears, yak, moose, tigers, wolves, owls and eagles among others in an up close and personal setting. Summer in Anchorage lends itself to perfect weather conditions for outdoor music concerts at the Loussac Public Library at their outdoor stage at 3600 Denali Street. Just can’t get enough golf during the day? During the days of the Midnight Sun, play a round on the par 3 public course, only $18 for 9 holes, open until 9 p.m. Or try their PGA Golf Simulator for $28 per hour of play.
