Visit the parks, restaurants and shops in the Tudor area for an entertaining day. Follow salmon spawning in the park-length creek during the summer months at Campbell Creek Park, named after late 1700s Alaska explorer Joseph Campbell. A golf course and ski chalet are worth a trip to the nearby Russian Jack Springs Park, also home to a sledding and ski hill, ski trails, softball and baseball fields, tennis courts, bike trails and a playground. Tudor area is west of the state’s largest college, the University of Alaska, home of the UAA Seawolves and a beautiful lake named University Lake. Get lost at the Alaska Bead Company, 4000 square feet of a crafter’s delight or Tandy Leather Company for leather tooling demos and shopping.
Wind down your day with Egg Drop Soup and Black and White Mushroom Chicken at Fu Do Chinese Restaurant or Himalayan cuisine, including the Tandoori Shrimp and freshly baked Naan bread, at Namaste Shangri-La Restaurant. Finish off your meal with the Apricot Halwa, a grated apricot and carrot pudding, served warm and garnished with nuts and raisins.
