In Alaska Douglas is a place on the Douglas Island which is located in the southeastern part of Alaska. The town was earlier more popular as a service providing town for all the miners from the nearby Treadwell gold mine and later got incorporated into a city in the year 1902. At present it has a residential community on the Douglas Island and is well connected to Juneau. The city has got a calm and marine weather.
The standard summer temperature ranges from 44 to 65 degree Celsius whereas in winter temperature ranges from 25 to 35 degrees.
Compared to other nearby places it is the mildest weather region in the whole of Alaska. Annually the area has rainfall of in 92 inches over the downtown Juneau and 54 inches ten miles north. Snowfall is recorded as an average of 101 inches.
Douglas has the third largest community in Alaska. It also has an Indian Association which represents the Tlingits.
The city has a population of around 5483 people.
