Kotzebue can be described as a city located in ‘Northwest Arctic Borough’, Alaska, US.
The name ‘Kotzebue’ has been derived from ‘Kotzebue Sound’; that had been named after ‘Otto von Kotzebue’. He was the one who explored sound during his search for Northwest Passage while serving in Russia in the year 1818.
Kotzebue happens to lay on gravel spit at end of ‘Baldwin Peninsula’ in ‘Kotzebue Sound’. It is situated at the distance of 53 Km on the northern side of arctic circle along western coast of Alaska. Besides, Kotzebue lays at an approximate distance of 30 miles from ‘Noatak, Kiana’ as well as the other adjacent towns.
As per US Census Bureau, area of Kotzebue on the whole comes out to be 74.2 sq. Km; out of which 5.76%2525 consists of water.
