Bering Land Bridge Natural Reserve
Hiking, exploration, camping, photography, nature observation, and ‘coastal boating’ can be undertaken over here. The winter season presents opportunities for dog sledding, snowmobiling, and certain amount of cross-country skiing. Fishing and hunting have been permitted under regulations of the state. In other words, licenses are required for fishing and hunting.
The Iditarod Sled Dog Race
This event is the only one of its kind. The race, in fact, covers around 1150 miles of beautiful and extreme terrain which can be within the reach of common man- across frozen rivers, mountain ranges, desolate tundra, windswept coastline, and dense forests. From Anchorage to Nome, every team consisting of 12-16 dogs; along with musher of theirs cover around 1150 miles in 10-17 days.
