Wrangell can be described as a city as well as a borough located in Alaska, US. This city was portion of previous Wrangell-Petersburg Census Area till incorporation on its part in the form of a city-and-borough on 1st of June, 2008.

Wrangell lays on Wrangell Island’s northern tip. It stands at the distance of 250 Km on the southern side of Juneau, capital of Alaska. It’s also across narrow ‘Zimovia Strait’ from Stikine River’s mouth on Alaska mainland. This town has been named after one of the islands; that had been named after ‘Ferdinand Petrovich Wrangel’, an explorer of Russian origin and administrator of Russian-American Company between 1840 and 1849.

Wrangell enjoys the pride of being one amongst the most ancient non-Native settlements all over Alaska. Fur trading was started by Russians with Tlingit area at site of Wrangell of present-day.

According to census conducted in the year 2000, population of Wrangell was 2308.
