With an 11,000-year-old history, the Bering Land Bridge National Preserve was established in 1978 and became a designated preserve in 1980. However, a majority of this land bridge lies beneath the Chukchi and Bering Seas.
Consisting of several geological and prehistoric sites, the preserve offers various recreational and educational activities as well. With its surrounding areas, it also provides opportunities to learn about the traditional lifestyles and the arts and crafts.
Camping, hiking, backpacking, boating, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling in winters are the range of activities offered at this place.
The Serpentine Hot Springs, Trail Lake Caves, Devil Mountain Lakes and Lost Jim Lava Flow are other interesting sites in this region. |
