Included in the International Biosphere Reserve in 1986, the Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a designated wilderness area. The waters of Glacier Bay are one of the finest sea-kayaking grounds in the world, and the region is abundant wildlife such as bears, deer, mountain goats, whales and more.
The Beardslee Islands is a popular inclusion in the park and an excellent spot to view moose, eagles, bears, seals and killer whales. It is also the perfect location for a day trip.
Another ideal place for the recreational activities is the Muir Inlet which is a tranquil place to enjoy kayaking owing to it being off-limits to motorized boats. The McBride Glacier, Muir Glacier and the Riggs Glacier are other interesting sites. |
